| This poster exhibition shows the first 100 of the total of 514 posters and stickers of farmers' movements owned by the Ohara Insitute. Most of these materials are concerned with dire living conditions of sharecropping farmers who suffered from heavy tribute imposed by landlords and who could not earn enough cash income to buy food, cloths, fertilizers, and other necessary items to support their livelihood and farming activities. Many posters and stickers were hand-written by farmers' movement activists at the local level and expressed the rage and frustration of farmers against landlords and the government which did little to help sharecropping farmers to improve their livelihood. Please note that although translations are very detailed, in some cases, they may not be 100 percent accurate. Please do not cite or quote these translations without our permission.
